Amravati, March 11 (IANS). Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) of the Central Government and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) of the Maharashtra Government have brought new light to the lives of lakhs of poor patients.
Under these schemes, more than 44,000 free and successful surgeries have been performed so far this year in the Government Super Specialty Hospital of Amravati, due to which the hospital is famous among the government institutions performing the maximum number of free surgeries in the state.
In this hospital, patients are getting completely free treatment under Ayushman Bharat and Mahatma Phule Scheme. So far, 69 kidney transplants have been done successfully, while more than 15,000 patients have been dialyzed. Apart from this, more than 1,000 neurosurgeries, chemotherapy of 5,000 cancer patients and more than 8,000 kidney stone surgeries have been successful. In private hospitals, these treatments cost Rs 5 to 10 lakh or more, but here poor families are getting high quality treatment without spending a single penny.
Family members of many kidney transplant patients emotionally expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the doctors.
Speaking to news agency IANS, a family member of a patient said, “My husband’s kidneys were not functioning for the last one and a half years. We had spent around Rs 18 lakh on private treatment. Later my father-in-law donated his kidney and the operation was completely successful. Because of PM Modi’s scheme, there was no expense at all. Now the husband is completely healthy. Thanks to the entire staff of the hospital.”
Dean of the hospital, Dr. Amol Narote and his team successfully performed all these complex surgeries. For the excellent contribution of doctors, the state government honored them with ‘Hridayasamrat Balasaheb Thackeray’ award in Mumbai. Dr. Narote said, “Because of these health schemes of the government, we are able to serve the poor patients. With the launch of the new portal, the process has become easier, which is really proving to be a lifesaver for the patients.”
These schemes provide a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh (AB-PMJAY) and Rs 1.5 lakh (MJPJAY) per family to poor families on hospitalization. Super specialty services like Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Urology and Transplant are available at Amravati Super Specialty Hospital. The hard work of doctors and staff in taking care of patients is commendable.
