Chittorgarh, February 10 (IANS). A massive explosion took place in the Mehroon Industry chemical factory in Rico industrial area located in Kapasan in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. The explosion was so severe that the sound of the blast was heard about 5 kilometers away and the surrounding area shook.

With the explosion, a huge plume of black smoke started rising from the factory premises, causing chaos in the entire area. After the explosion, a massive fire broke out in the factory and the people nearby were disturbed by the pungent smell of chemicals.

As soon as information about the incident was received, city president Raj Vijayvargiya and Vikas Baregama took immediate action and sent the fire brigade and ambulance to the spot. MLA Arjun Lal Jinagar immediately informed the District Collector about the incident.

Seeing the seriousness of the incident, a heavy police force including District Collector Alok Ranjan, Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi, Sub Divisional Officer Rajesh Suwalka, DYSP Harji Lal Yadav and Police Station Officer Sunil Sharma reached the spot.

At the same time, additional fire brigade was also called from Chittorgarh. The fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after a lot of effort. At present, police and administration are deployed at the spot and the situation is being monitored. In view of the impact of the chemical, instructions have been given to local citizens and personnel for vigilance and safety. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of panic in the entire Kapasan area.

District Collector Alok Ranjan said that as soon as information about the explosion in the chemical factory was received, high level administrative officials reached the spot. At present there is no information about any casualty. The cause of the blast is being investigated and information about other factories operating nearby is also being obtained.
