New Delhi, March 31 (IANS). In ancient India, yoga was mainly limited to sages and sages. Yoga was not that widespread in the life of the common man, but with time the importance of yoga was understood and today it has become a popular medium for health and mental peace not only in India but all over the world.
One of the important asanas of yoga is Shirshasana. Shirshasana is made up of two Sanskrit words. ‘Shirsh,’ meaning ‘head’ and ‘Asana,’ meaning ‘posture’ or ‘pose.’ That is why it is called headstand pose in English, because it is helpful in strengthening both the body and mind. In this asana, the person creates balance by standing on the head, which improves blood circulation in the body and provides energy to the brain.
Thus, Shirshasana is not just a simple exercise but a practice that gives us physical strength, mental concentration and self-confidence. Its effect is also visible on the skin and hair, the skin becomes glowing, hair fall is reduced, and many types of skin related problems also start going away gradually.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Shirshasana is considered the ‘king of asanas’. It improves concentration, mental clarity and memory by increasing blood circulation in the brain. This is an advanced yoga pose to improve balance, arm strength and overall physical health.
To do this asana, first spread the yoga mat. Sitting on it on your knees, interlace the fingers of both the hands and place them on the ground, then keeping your head between the palms, slowly lift your legs up and maintain balance. When the weight of your body starts being felt on your head and arms, then bend your knees and bring them gently towards the chest. This is a good starting posture for first-time practitioners.
Beginners should hold for 10-30 seconds, with regular practice it can be increased to 5 minutes. People with high blood pressure, dizziness, neck problems, or cataracts should not do this asana.
