New Delhi, May 20 (IANS). World Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June underlining the importance of Yogasana. Only a few days are left for the day. In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India is advising people to practice yoga daily. According to the ministry, Ardha Matsyendrasana is an easy but extremely effective yoga asana, which strengthens the spine and keeps the digestive system healthy.
In today’s busy life, many people suffer from back stiffness, back pain and digestive problems. The Ministry of AYUSH says that the body is giving you signals. If the back is stiff, the stomach is not working properly or daily fatigue is increasing, then regular practice of Ardha Matsyendrasana can provide relief from these problems.
Ardha Matsyendrasana makes the spine flexible and strong, strengthens the waist and lower back muscles, improves digestion and provides relief from problems like constipation. Its practice massages the abdominal organs, which helps in digesting food properly and increases balance in the body. Not only this, it reduces stress, keeps the mind calm and also helps in controlling diabetes.
Ardha Matsyendrasana is also known as ‘Half Spinal Twist Pose’. In this, the spine is bent by rotating the body, due to which every bone of the spine gets exercise. Its regular practice improves spinal weakness, slow digestion process and problems related to blood sugar.
The ministry appeals to people of all ages to include this asana in their daily routine. However, it is important to take some precautions. Pregnant women, people with hernia or serious back problems should do this asana only after consulting a doctor or yoga expert.
