New Delhi, May 18 (IANS). In today’s busy life, stomach related problems are increasing rapidly. Staying up late at night, not eating food on time and working sitting for hours has now become a part of people’s daily routine. This is the reason why problems like acidity, stomach burning, sour belching, gas and indigestion have now become common among people of all ages. According to health experts, when the acid produced in the stomach starts returning towards the food pipe, it is called acid reflux. Due to this, problems like burning sensation in the chest and heaviness in the stomach can be felt. To get relief from this, there are many spices used in Indian kitchen, which help in improving the digestive system.
Fennel- Fennel is considered most beneficial for digestion. A natural element called anethole is found in fennel, which relaxes the stomach muscles. Research has found that it helps in reducing the gas produced in the stomach. The habit of chewing fennel after meals is beneficial for improving digestion. Many people drink fennel water, which makes the stomach feel light and provides relief from burning sensation.
Cumin- Cumin is also an important part of Indian food and has been used in Ayurveda for a long time. According to scientific studies, an element called cuminaldehyde present in cumin helps in activating digestive enzymes. Due to this, food gets digested quickly. When food is digested properly, pressure builds up in the stomach and the possibility of acid reflux also decreases. Drinking cumin water is considered a home remedy to reduce gas and heaviness.
Ginger- Ginger is also seen as a natural herb that improves digestion. It contains elements like gingerol and shogaol, which have anti-inflammatory properties. These elements help in emptying the stomach faster, so that food does not stay in the stomach for long. Sometimes slow digestion also causes acidity and burning sensation. Ginger can be consumed in lukewarm water, herbal tea or included in food in limited quantities.
Cardamom- Cardamom is also considered beneficial for the stomach. According to Ayurveda, cardamom helps in balancing the digestive process in the body. The antioxidant elements present in it are considered helpful in reducing stomach inflammation. Many people chew cardamom after eating, which reduces bad breath and also helps in digestion. Adding cardamom to tea or milk provides relief to the stomach along with taste.
Basil- Basil leaves are considered full of medicinal properties in Indian tradition. According to research, natural elements like eugenol are found in basil, which helps in reducing inflammation and keeping the stomach calm.
