New Delhi, December 3 (IANS). In winter, complaints of cough, sore throat and fever are seen in most of the houses. Nature has given many such medicines in the form of fruits and flowers, which are good for health. The name of one such medicine is Banafsha flower.
Small violet-blue colored Banafsha flowers are not only beautiful to look at and fragrant, but are also full of medicinal properties. In Ayurveda it is called a precious gift of nature. It is capable of removing many problems including cold and cough.
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India gives detailed information about nature’s small flower Banafsha or Sweet Violet and makes you aware of its medicinal properties.
Banafsha flowers may be small in appearance but they are very beneficial. Elements like flavonoids, alkaloids, salicylic acid and mucilage are found in abundance in it. This is the reason why in Ayurveda it is considered the most reliable and better treatment for cold and cough.
Consuming Banafsha flowers provides many benefits. It provides instant relief from sore throat and dry cough. Helps in thinning the mucus (phlegm) and expelling it. Relief is also provided in mild fever and headache. It has anti-inflammatory properties, due to which it reduces swelling of the throat and being anti-microbial, it is effective in fighting viruses and bacteria.
It is also considered very beneficial for people suffering from insomnia, stress and irritability. Applying it on small wounds and burns of the skin provides relief.
You can prepare and drink Banafsha tea (herbal tea), which tastes good and gives energy when consumed and is helpful in relieving fatigue of the day.
