New Delhi, 6 October (IANS). The spinal cord in the structure of the human body, called spinal column or vertebral column, is the most important part. It not only helps us stand upright, but also takes responsibility for the activities, balance and safety of our entire body.
The spinal cord is made up of 33 vertebrates in total, although in some people their number may be slightly different, especially in the waist and triangular region.
These vertebrates are more in the fetal state, but over time they connect and create a structure.
Each vertebrae of the spine has its own special shape and function, such as the first two bones of the neck give the ability to rotate and bent the head. The bones of the neck are the smallest, while the bones of the waist are the largest and stronger because they carry the weight of the entire body. The intervertebral discs present between the vertebrae are a type of shock absorber, which helps to move and tolerate shocks. This is the reason that in the morning, the height of a human being is 1-2 cm more than the night, because due to pressure on the disc, the liquid present in it decreases throughout the day.
The spinal cord is safe within the vertebral column, which connects the 31 pair of veins emanating from the brain to different parts of the body. The natural curvature of the spine is not at birth, but as the child learns to sit and walk, this curvature develops. The special thing is that the bones of the neck of giraffe such as humans and other mammals are the same, just the difference in their size.
In old age, the amount of liquid of the disc decreases flexibility and the spine becomes hard. His effect on injury depends on which part of the spine is the injury. The neck injury can affect the entire body, while the waist injury affects only the lower back.
To maintain the health of the spine, it is beneficial to do regular yogasan such as Bhujangasana, Tadasana, Trigonasana. Pranayama, nutritious diet (milk, sesame, gooseberry), right seating habit, sesame or Bhringraj oil massage, morning sun and light stretching can maintain both spine strength and flexibility.
