New Delhi, February 24 (IANS). People often take lightly not brushing their teeth before going to bed at night, but this carelessness is not limited to cavities in the teeth only, but can gradually affect the entire body. It especially has a bad effect on heart health.
Both Ayurveda and science believe that cleanliness of the mouth maintains the health of the body. After eating and drinking throughout the day, food remains stuck between the teeth and gums. If brushing is not done at night, these bacteria grow rapidly and form plaque. Plaque not only spoils teeth but also causes inflammation in the gums. This swelling can further spread inside the body.
According to scientists, after harmful bacteria grow in the mouth, they reach other parts through the blood and cause inflammation. Prolonged swelling can damage the blood vessels of the heart. Due to this, the inner layer of the veins becomes weak and fat starts accumulating in them. This situation can further increase the risk of heart attack or heart failure.
In Ayurveda, it is advised to brush teeth in the morning as well as at night, so that the dirt accumulated throughout the day does not enter the body.
It has been observed in many researches that people who brush regularly at night and get their teeth cleaned from time to time have less gum disease. Less gum disease means less inflammation in the body. The heart directly benefits from less swelling.
