New Delhi, March 3 (IANS). Holi, the festival of colors, brings an atmosphere of joy and happiness, but the colors made from chemicals work to spoil this happiness.
Even though herbal and organic colors are easily available in the market, even in small quantities, chemicals are used in herbal colors, which cause great harm to the skin and especially the eyes. Every year after Holi, the most common complaints are redness, swelling and irritation in the eyes. In such a situation, it becomes very important to take care of the eyes.
The colors contain synthetic powder, which causes pain and infection in the eyes. Metals and alkaline substances used in synthetic powders and colors damage the cornea and cause inflammation. Apart from colours, sharp splashes or water balloons also cause huge damage to the eyes. If you have accidentally got color in your eyes and are experiencing itching and burning sensation, then there are easy ways by which you can take care of your eyes at home.
If color gets into your eyes, do not panic and avoid rubbing. Rubbing can scratch the cornea and cause chemicals to penetrate deeper into the surface of the eye. First wash your hands, then clean the area around the eyes with a clean cloth. Avoid washing eyes with lukewarm water. If there is irritation or any kind of problem in the eyes, then the eyes can also be washed with sterile saline. This will help in cleaning the eyes deeply.
Also, tilt the head to one side and allow the water to flow outward from the inner corner of the eye. During this, keep blinking the eyelids continuously, so that the dust and color comes out of the eyes. Do this process for at least 15 minutes. This will provide coolness to the eyes and also reduce irritation.
Now the question is what not to do. When color disappears from the eyes, some people resort to home remedies, due to which the condition of the eyes becomes worse. To reduce eye irritation, do not use rose water, milk, ghee or any kind of indigenous thing and do not use any drops on your own without consulting the doctor.
