New Delhi, May 18 (IANS). In today’s fast-paced life, most people have become more conscious about their eating habits than before, but sometimes it happens that despite everything looking fine from outside, the body is internally struggling with the lack of essential nutrition. Especially protein deficiency is a problem which people often ignore.
According to medical science, protein works to build muscles in our body. Besides, it also plays an important role in repairing body cells, producing hormones, keeping skin and hair healthy and providing energy to the body. When protein is not available in sufficient quantity, its effects gradually become visible on the entire body. Many times people consider these symptoms as general weakness or the effect of weather, but ignoring them for a long time can prove to be harmful to health.
If the body starts feeling tired continuously without doing much hard work, then it can be an early sign of protein deficiency. According to scientific research, protein helps in providing energy to the body and keeping the muscles strong. When its quantity starts decreasing in the body, the muscles gradually become weak and the body starts getting tired quickly. Such people start feeling the need for rest only after working for a while. Many times, even after getting good sleep in the morning, the body feels heavy and lethargic.
According to doctors, rapid hair fall and weakening of nails are also considered major signs of protein deficiency in the body. Medical research states that hair and nails are mainly made of a protein called keratin. When the body does not get enough protein, the body starts giving priority to essential organs, due to which proper nutrition does not reach the hair and nails. Its effect is that hair and nails start breaking.
Frequent hunger can also be a sign of protein deficiency. According to scientific studies, protein helps in keeping the stomach feeling full for a longer period of time. This is the reason why one does not feel hungry quickly after eating protein-rich food. But, when there is a deficiency of it in the body, then the desire to eat something starts again and again. Especially the craving to eat sweet or junk food increases. In such a situation, there is a need to pay attention to your diet.
When there is a deficiency of protein in the body, the muscles gradually start becoming weak. Its effect is visible in the form of pain, stiffness and weakness in the body. Many people start feeling difficulty in climbing stairs, standing for a long time or even lifting light objects. If there is protein deficiency for a long time, the size of the muscles also starts decreasing and the strength of the body may decrease.
The skin suddenly appearing lifeless, dry and weak may also be related to protein deficiency. Protein helps keep skin cells healthy and create new cells. When the body does not get enough protein, the skin starts losing its natural glow. In such a situation, dryness in the skin increases and premature wrinkles also start appearing on the face. Sometimes the skin starts feeling thin and weak.
Doctors believe that if the body is continuously giving such signals, then it should not be taken lightly. It is important to include pulses, cheese, eggs, milk, curd, soya, dry fruits and other protein rich things in a balanced diet.
