New Delhi, March 25 (IANS). The summer season has arrived. In such a situation, health experts recommend consumption of ridge gourd to deal with increasing heat and digestive problems. This is a great and natural option. Its regular consumption not only strengthens the digestive system but also prevents deficiency of nutrients in the body.

Zucchini is a cheap, easily available and healthy vegetable, which proves beneficial for every member of the family in summer. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, regular consumption of ridge gourd keeps the problem of constipation away and helps in keeping the stomach clean.

Eating ridge gourd vegetable in summer is no less than a boon for health. Zucchini contains very high amount of water, which keeps the body hydrated. Nutrients like fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, calcium and potassium are found in abundance in it. Fiber strengthens the digestive system and provides relief from problems like constipation, gas and indigestion.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, ridge gourd or Nenua is also beneficial in balancing pitta dosha, removing respiratory diseases, fever, cough and stomach worms. In summer, digestion becomes weak due to increase in body heat. In such a situation, ridge gourd vegetable is light and easily digestible. It provides coolness to the body and helps in preventing heat stroke.

The antioxidants present in ridge gourd keep the skin healthy and reduce heat-related skin problems like pimples, rashes and itching. There are many easy ways to make ridge gourd curry. It can be made with potatoes, gram or gram dal. Some people like to eat it by seasoning it with plain mustard seeds or with curd. Ridge gourd can be consumed both day and night.
