Ranchi: In view of the increasing threat of vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria in the capital, the health department has geared up. On the instructions of Civil Surgeon Office, Ranchi, dengue surveillance campaign is being conducted on a large scale in various wards of the urban area. Under this special campaign, a team of health workers is conducting door-to-door surveys every day in 7 different wards of the city. The team is busy identifying possible patients, collecting details of people suffering from fever and destroying possible breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
During the campaign, the Health Department team thoroughly inspected the coolers, water tanks, pots, old tires and other waterlogged places in the houses. Along with inspection, people are also being made aware about not allowing waterlogging and maintaining cleanliness around them. Health workers appealed to the citizens to observe ‘dry day’ at least once a week, so that mosquito larvae can be prevented from breeding.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Ranchi Civil Surgeon Dr. Prabhat Kumar has appealed to the general public to remain alert. He said that if a person experiences symptoms like high fever, headache, body ache, pain behind the eyes or red rashes on the body, they should immediately go to the nearest health center and seek doctor’s advice. Apart from this, as a preventive measure, it has been advised to wear clothes covering the entire body, use mosquito nets at night and regular use of anti-mosquito cream or liquid.
