New Delhi, July 23 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta provided a long-pending financial assistance of Rs 1 crore each to the families of frontline workers who lost their lives while on duty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta posted on social media platform ‘X’ that the contribution of frontline personnel who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered and the commitment of the Delhi government towards their families will remain paramount.
Earlier in the day, the CM met the sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He appreciated their dedicated service and acknowledged their significant contribution in building a clean and beautiful Delhi.
He also had lunch with the sanitation workers and expressed his gratitude for their service and dedication.
The event was organized during the launch of door-to-door garbage collection and secondary transportation project in West Delhi Municipal Corporation area. On this occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off 917 modern vehicles.
CM Rekha Gupta said that the aim of the Delhi government is not just to collect garbage, but to develop a modern, technology-based, transparent and citizen-centric solid waste management system.
He said that the new system will make door-to-door garbage collection more effective, timely and accountable. Also it will play an important role in making Delhi more clean, healthy and beautiful.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this combination of modern technology, strong infrastructure and public participation will help make Delhi the cleanest and best-managed capital of the country.
According to the official statement, the project will cover around 4.5 lakh families living in 25 wards of West Delhi Municipal Corporation.
In the first phase of the project, it has been started in six wards, while the remaining 19 wards will be connected to this system by August 31.
To strengthen sanitation services, 917 state-of-the-art vehicles and modern garbage collection equipment have been deployed, which will enable timely and more effective door-to-door garbage collection.
