Delhi Medical Association welcomed 'Healthy Women Strong Family Campaign'

New Delhi, 16 September (IANS). The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the inauguration of a healthy women’s strong family campaign on 17 September. The DMA has appreciated this visionary program and assured full cooperation to make it successful.

Addressing a press conference, DMA President Dr. Girish Tyagi said that this campaign is an important step towards promoting the health of women and children.

“Clean environment reduces the spread of diseases, strengthens immunity and especially encourages healthy to stay healthy for women and children,” he said.

To pursue this thinking, the DMA has announced to start Seva Fortnight from 17 September to 2 October. The campaign will start at Maulana Azad Medical College at 6 am with a cleanliness drive, after which free health check -up camps and public awareness programs will be organized across Delhi.

Dr. Tyagi informed that 13 branches of DMA will actively participate in this campaign. These branches will organize various programs to promote preventive healthcare, nutrition and overall welfare of women and children. The DMA is in regular contact with the government and will soon share the detailed program list.

He said, “More than 20,000 members are ready to contribute in every possible way to achieve the goals of this campaign.”

State Secretary of DMA Dr. Satish Lamba informed that on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday, all 13 branches of DMA have been instructed to organize health camps in their respective branches. These camps will include high blood pressure, diabetes, mouth and cervical cancer, anemia, tuberculosis, children’s prenatal (ANC) examination and other specialist services.

Dr. Lamba said, “Our aim is to prioritize women’s health and laying the foundation of healthy families in society.”

The DMA has actively participated in various community service projects of the Government of India and the Government of Delhi and expressed full commitment to make this campaign a success. This initiative will not only make health services accessible, but will also bring positive changes in the society by spreading awareness.
