New Delhi, April 13 (IANS). Summer season has arrived. In such a situation, there is a need for such food which is tasty as well as light and healthy. Lemon grass is also such a medicine, the consumption of which provides many benefits to both body and mind.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Government of India is making people aware about the medicinal properties of lemon grass. According to Ayurveda, lemon grass is a tasty and aromatic herb, which is considered extremely useful for cleansing the skin and body. It can be easily grown in a pot or garden around the house, which not only provides health benefits but also keeps the environment clean.
In fact, lemon grass is a companion of health. It is effective in getting rid of infections, fatigue, frequent cold and skin problems caused by change in weather. In Ayurveda, it has also been said to be useful in increasing digestion power, joint pain and period problems. You start feeling the difference within a few days of consuming lemon grass tea. It is also effective in improving digestion, increasing appetite and reducing dryness of the skin.
The special thing is that consumption of lemon grass provides many health benefits. It is useful in helminthiasis as it has anti-parasitic properties which help in removing intestinal worms. Its anti-cancer properties are also being studied in serious diseases like cancer. The antioxidants present in it can be helpful in preventing the growth of cancer cells.
