New Delhi, May 5 (IANS). Taking care of a newborn baby is a very delicate and responsible job in itself. The body of such a child is not fully developed, their skin is very soft and their immunity is also weak. Therefore, even a small mistake while bathing them can become a problem for them.
Water for a premature baby should always be lukewarm. Too hot water can burn the skin and too cold water can put the child at risk of cold and cough.
The second mistake is keeping the child in water for too long. It is not good to bathe such children for too long. Their bathing should be very quick and gradual, so that they do not feel cold and feel comfortable.
The third mistake is that people rub the baby too quickly or forcefully. The skin of a premature baby is very delicate, so it should always be cleaned with very gentle hands. Rubbing may cause redness or irritation on their skin.
Another common mistake is using the wrong soap or chemical products. Strongly scented soaps or body washes can be harmful for such children. It is better to use a mild and safe cleaning agent only after consulting the doctor or to clean with just water and soft cloth.
Apart from this, many people do not pay attention to the temperature of the room while bathing the baby. Bathing in a room with cold air or AC can quickly affect the child. Therefore, always choose a room where the temperature is normal and comfortable.
The most important thing is that it is not always necessary to bathe a premature baby every day. Many times doctors advise such children to clean them with sponging i.e. a slightly wet cloth. This also keeps the child clean and there is no danger of him getting cold or his body temperature falling.
