New Delhi, July 24 (IANS). Yoga is an ancient and effective means of maintaining the balance of our body, mind and soul. Among many asanas of yoga, ‘Sarvangasana’ is considered to have special importance. Regular practice of this asana not only improves physical health but also increases mental peace and concentration.
‘Sarvangasana’ is made up of two words, ‘Sarva’ meaning all and ‘Anga’ meaning parts of the body. In this asana, the weight of the body is raised upwards with the help of shoulders and neck, which improves blood circulation in the body and helps in balancing many body functions.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose) is a complete yoga asana, which helps in improving body balance, flexibility and functioning of internal organs. It is also called the ‘queen of asanas’. Also, this asana is helpful in activating and balancing the Vishuddhi Chakra. Its practice helps in strengthening the body’s immunity and the mind experiences peace and stability.
This asana is considered helpful in balancing the functions of the glands of the cervical region and their associated organs. In Sarvangasana, due to the posture of the body being from bottom to top, blood circulation is better, due to which the cells of the body are able to function more actively.
Regular practice of this improves the process of return of blood in the veins. While doing this yoga asana, the entire weight of the body is balanced on the shoulders and elbows. However, in the beginning it is important to learn this asana correctly. Practicing under the supervision of experts reduces the risk of injury. Include it in your daily routine with the advice of yoga experts, especially those who have neck, back problems or high blood pressure.
If you are suffering from high blood pressure (high blood pressure), cervical (neck pain), or hyperthyroidism, do not do this asana.
