New Delhi, December 30 (IANS). In winter season, cold winds, rain and dew affect not only the face and hands but also the feet. It is often seen that some people may be wearing woolen socks or warm shoes, but the soles of the feet cool down so fast that it feels like ice. Actually, the reason behind this is the lack of blood and oxygen in the body.
When not enough blood and oxygen reaches the feet, the feet feel cold and numb. There are some easy and effective home remedies to get rid of this problem. These measures not only keep the feet warm, but also improve blood circulation.
Hot Water:- An easy way to remove cold feet is to soak them in hot water. Warm water improves blood circulation in the legs and reduces muscle stiffness. Adding a little salt to water provides relief from both tiredness and coldness of the feet. Apart from this, warming the feet with warm cloth or towel is also beneficial.
Heating Pad:- The simplest and most effective solution is heating pad. If the sole of the feet is constantly cold, a heating pad helps to warm it quickly. Warming your feet with a heating pad before sleeping at night reduces muscle strain and improves blood flow. When going out, it is beneficial to warm your feet with a heating pad before wearing socks and shoes. Nowadays it is easily available online or in the market.
Oil Massage:- Another effective way to bring back warmth in the feet is oil massage. Mix a small amount of celery in mustard oil, heat it slightly and massage it on the soles of the feet. This process increases blood circulation in the legs and improves oxygen supply. Regular massage reduces both coldness and numbness of the feet.
Right diet:- Coldness of feet is sometimes also due to lack of nutrition. Especially when there is iron deficiency in the blood, coldness and numbness is felt in the feet. Therefore, it is important to include iron-rich foods in the diet, such as green vegetables, spinach and pulses. Also, Vitamin B12 helps in the production of red blood cells in the body, which improves blood circulation and oxygen supply.
Also, keep doing leg movements, do not stand or sit for too long. Always wear shoes and socks of correct size, so that blood circulation is not obstructed.
