For better health, it is not only important to eat nutritious food, it is also important to cook it properly.

New Delhi, June 26 (IANS). In today’s busy life, it is very important for everyone to give priority to health. But along with this it is also important to understand that good health depends not only on eating nutritious food but also on cooking it properly. By adopting smart cooking habits, we can make food more nutritious, tasty and healthy. Small precautions while cooking help protect us from many diseases in the long run.

The Health Ministry of the Government of India posted on the social media platform X that it is very important to control the amount of oil while cooking. Often people add oil without measurement, which adds more fat to the food than required. Therefore, one should always use a spoon to pour the oil. This helps in using the right amount of oil and avoids excess calories. Food prepared with less oil is better for the heart and also reduces the risk of problems like obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Another important habit is to avoid eating fried food frequently. Fried foods taste delicious, but they contain high amounts of fat and calories. Eating samosas, pakodas, chips, puris or other fried foods regularly can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. Even if you have to eat fried food, it should be eaten in limited quantity and only occasionally. Fresh fruits, green vegetables, pulses and whole grains should be given more place in the daily diet.

The choice of cooking methods is also very important for a healthy life. Instead of frying things in oil, it is more beneficial to steam, fry, boil or grill them. Vitamins and minerals are preserved in large quantities in steamed vegetables. Grilled or roasted foods are prepared with less oil and taste better. Similarly, food prepared by lightly roasting or boiling is also considered better for digestion.

Apart from this, using fresh ingredients, not cooking food for too long and not using more salt and sugar than necessary are also part of smart cooking. Freshly cooked food at home is always safer and more nutritious than junk food from outside.
