बार-बार गले में दर्द? हो सकता है टॉन्सिल्स की समस्या, जानें उपाय

New Delhi, October 19 (IANS). Children and adults often have problems like throat pain, swelling or difficulty in swallowing. If this problem occurs again and again, then it may be caused by tonsils i.e. tonsils.

There are two small glands on either side of the throat called tonsils. These are part of the body’s immune system and prevent germs from coming in through the mouth or nose. But when these get infected, then they become a problem for us.

According to Ayurveda, Tundikeri is caused by disturbance of Kapha and Pitta dosha. When the toxic elements increase in the body and the digestive power becomes weak, the glands in the throat swell. This causes pain, fever and difficulty in swallowing.

Its main signs are sore throat, severe pain, difficulty in swallowing, fever, headache and bad breath. Problems like irritability and not eating are also seen in children.

Eating too much cold, fried or heavy food, coming in contact with cold air or snow, sleeping during the day and weakness of digestion, all these reasons give rise to tonsils. Contaminated water or unhygienic food can also cause infection.

First of all avoid cold things. Gargle with warm water several times a day. Make a habit of drinking lukewarm water. Drinking tea of basil, ginger, liquorice and pippali in the morning and evening provides great relief to the throat. Take food that is light, warm and digestible. Avoid giving cold water or ice cream to children.

Simhasana strengthens the throat muscles, Ujjayi Pranayama keeps the throat clear, and practices like Jal Neti are helpful in preventing infections.

Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric and a pinch of rock salt in lukewarm water and gargle two-three times a day. This reduces swelling.

Drink basil-ginger tea. Boil 7-8 basil leaves and some ginger and mix honey. It gives relief to the throat and increases immunity.

Licking liquorice powder mixed with honey provides relief from soreness and burning sensation. Drinking boiled celery, black pepper and turmeric reduces phlegm and cures infection.

Taking Triphala powder with warm water at night removes toxins from the body and improves digestion.
