New Delhi, April 30 (IANS). Only a few days are left for World Yoga Day. Meanwhile, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India is giving information about the practice of new yogasanas as well as the benefits obtained from them. Nowadays, due to increasing pollution, dust and rapid changes in weather, respiratory problems like difficulty in breathing, sinus, cough, cold and bronchial infection have become common. In such a situation, the Ministry has advised to adopt the ancient yoga practice Kapalbhati to keep the respiratory system strong and healthy.
Kapalbhati is a powerful pranayama, which is considered extremely effective in clearing the lungs, opening the respiratory tubes and improving the entire respiratory system. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, doing a few mindful rounds of Kapalbhati every day freshens the breath, energizes the body and strengthens the respiratory system. Kapalbhati can be especially beneficial for people who suffer from sinus congestion, persistent cough, cold, rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma or bronchial infections.
This action expels old air and toxins from the lungs, making breathing easier and reducing the risk of infection.
While doing Kapalbhati, one has to exhale rapidly, whereas breathing happens naturally. This increases lung capacity, improves oxygen levels and clears the mucus accumulated in the respiratory tubes. Regular exercise reduces inflammation of the respiratory tract and provides relief from problems like bronchial infections.
Health experts say that Kapalbhati not only strengthens the respiratory system but also cleans the body from inside. It keeps the brain fresh and doing it in the morning maintains energy throughout the day. In such a situation, experts advise to start practicing with fewer cycles in the beginning and increase it gradually. Always do Kapalbhati on an empty stomach and if someone has a serious illness, then practice it only on the advice of a doctor or yoga expert.
