New Delhi, November 3 (IANS). Nowadays gallstones have become a common problem, especially among those people who work sitting for long hours and live an unhealthy lifestyle. According to Ayurveda, stones in gall bladder are formed due to imbalance of bile-phlegm and blockage of meda dhatu. When the fire of the body becomes weak and the bile starts thickening, stones gradually start forming.

The main reasons include consumption of fried foods, frequent meals, excess spices, red chillies, vinegar, heavy meals at night, drinking less water, eating heavy meals after fasting, anxiety-stress and sitting for long periods. In some women, hormonal changes i.e. extra estrogen also increases the risk of gall bladder stones.

Its signs are mild in the beginning, so it is important to recognize it in time. It is possible to prevent stones and keep the bile light with home remedies and Ayurvedic herbs. Herbs like Dhanvantari Guggul, Bhringraj juice, horse gram soup, Pittapapada, Giloy and Varunadi Kwath help in this. It is beneficial to take lemon, black cumin and honey in lukewarm water every morning, drink ginger-mint-basil tea and consume Triphala or fennel-mishri-coriander at night.

These measures can dissolve small stones, improve bile flow, reduce problems like vomiting, gas and loss of appetite and reduce the risk of stones forming again.

Along with this, some precautions are also necessary. In case of pain, do not take painkillers yourself, do not take too much lemon or apple cider vinegar. Also avoid consumption of strong tea, coffee and red chilli.

Both Ayurveda and modern science believe that the biggest cause of gallstones is poor lifestyle. Right food, adequate water, light exercise and mental peace are very important. These keep the bile balanced and prevent the formation of stones.
