New Delhi, December 10 (IANS). To avoid cold, cough, sore throat and digestive weakness during the cold season, it is not necessary to take bitter medicine every time. Health can also be kept healthy with delicious food. The name of one such delicious dish is Ginger Barfi.
What can we say if taste and health come together in the winter season? The Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India tells about such an old but amazing recipe for ginger barfi. It is both a delicious sweet and an Ayurvedic medicine, which increases immunity, improves appetite and keeps cough and cold at bay.
The special thing is that you do not need to go to any shop for ginger barfi, rather you can easily make it at home.
The ministry also gives a special recipe for making ginger barfi. For this, fresh ginger, desi jaggery and desi ghee along with dry ginger, cumin, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, pippali and coriander powder are required. If you want, you can also add Nagkesar-Vidang in it. You can also add sesame seeds, which makes the barfi even more nutritious.
The method of making Ginger Barfi is very easy. First melt the jaggery on low flame and make a thick syrup. Add grated ginger to it and fry for 5-7 minutes. Then add ghee and cook for 5-10 minutes. After this, add fine powder of all the spices and keep stirring for 8-10 more minutes. When the mixture starts leaving the pan, spread it in a greased plate, cool it and cut it into pieces. When it cools completely, keep it in an airtight container. It remains completely fresh for a whole month.
If we sit down to count the benefits of this barfi, it does not end. It improves digestion, increases appetite, provides relief from sore throat, cold and cough and strengthens the immunity of the entire body. Eating 1-2 small pieces daily in winter also protects from cold and also reduces mild joint pain.
Delicious ginger barfi gives many benefits to health, not just one or two. However, it is of hot nature, so do not eat too much during the day and do not take it on an empty stomach. Those who have acidity, ulcer or bile problems should definitely consult a doctor.
