New Delhi, October 20 (IANS). High blood pressure or hypertension not only means increased blood pressure, but it is also a sign of imbalance in your body and mind.
Ayurveda considers it as an internal disturbance of the body rather than a disease. If the balance of Pitta and Vata gets disturbed, blood pressure may increase. It is not treated only by taking medicines, but it can also be controlled by right lifestyle and eating habits.
Ayurveda says that in any disease, correct routine and positive mindset are as important as medicine.
First of all it is important to pay attention to diet. Too much salt, oily or processed food can increase blood pressure. Instead, eat things like seasonal vegetables, fruits, oats, moong, sesame, ginger, garlic. Green leafy vegetables and fruits help in keeping blood pressure balanced. Things like jaggery, honey and coconut are also better.
Yoga and pranayam are also very useful. Meditate for some time every day, do Bhramari Pranayam or Shavasana. This reduces stress and keeps blood pressure under control. Due to increased stress, blood pressure can also increase suddenly, hence it is very important to keep the mind calm.
Also, get enough sleep, eat food on time and do light exercise like walking, cycling or swimming. These small steps also help a lot in reducing blood pressure naturally.
Ayurveda does not treat high blood pressure through medicine alone, but focuses on balancing the entire lifestyle. A combination of diet, yoga, pranayam, mental peace and regular exercise not only lowers blood pressure but also improves heart health, increases energy and leads to longevity.
If we adopt a lifestyle by understanding the balance of our body and mind, high blood pressure can be controlled naturally and permanently.
