Himachal Pradesh: Rajeev Bindal and Jairam Thakur inquired about the well being of hospitalized BJP MP Harsh Mahajan.

Shimla, June 27 (IANS). Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajeev Bindal and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Saturday met the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) to inquire about his health and wished for his speedy recovery.

Senior BJP leaders also interacted with the doctors present and got information about their health condition.

Bindal and Thakur said party workers and well-wishers across the state were worried after learning about Mahajan’s sudden ill health.

He said that according to doctors, Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan was admitted due to dehydration and law board pressure, and he does not have any heart blockage or any other heart-related problem.

He expressed relief that Mahajan’s condition was stable and improving rapidly and prayed for his good health and long life.

Expressing gratitude, Rajya Sabha MP Mahajan said, “I am completely healthy now. Due to a sudden health problem, I had to be hospitalized for some time. By the grace of God, timely care given by doctors and the prayers, good wishes and affection of my family, friends, well-wishers and supporters, I have now completely recovered.”

He further said, “I wholeheartedly thank everyone who has inquired about my well-being through phone calls, messages and other means. Your affection, trust and blessings are my biggest strength. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your support and prayers.”

BJP’s Mahajan, a rebel Congress leader and once considered close to state Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, was elected to the Rajya Sabha in February 2024. He defeated Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. During this period, there were also reports of cross voting by at least six MLAs of the ruling party.

Both candidates got 34 votes each in the 68-member House, which also included three independent MLAs who are believed to have voted in favor of the BJP.

Finally Mahajan was declared the winner through lottery.

Mahajan, a three-time MLA, had left the Congress and joined the BJP just ahead of the 2022 assembly elections, calling it ‘directionless’ and ‘visionless’.
