New Delhi, January 31 (IANS). In Ayurveda, to balance the body, balance of three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha is necessary. These three doshas are responsible for the physical, mental and emotional health of the body, but today we will learn about Vata dosha and how it can be balanced in the body.
In Ayurveda, Vata dosha is associated with ‘air and sky’, which is responsible for the energy in our body. Apart from this, imbalance of Vata dosha affects movement, circulation, breathing, heart rate, skin, hair and nervous system in the body. Many methods have been suggested in Ayurveda to balance Vata Dosha, the first of which is Snehapana i.e. consumption of oil.
To pacify the aggravated vata, sesame oil should be consumed. Sesame oil is hot in nature and helps in balancing Vayu (Vata) of the body. It can be consumed by mixing it with food.
The second way is to do Abhyanga. Vata is directly related to dryness. If Vata is unbalanced in the body then dryness increases in hair and skin. In such a situation, Abhyanga done with any oil works to deeply nourish the skin. If you cannot apply oil on the entire body, then apply it on the head, legs and behind the ears. It works to activate the nervous system.
The third is Swedan. Swedan means to sweat. Vata remains balanced only when sweat comes out along with the toxins from the body. In such a situation, try to sweat through exercise or yoga. This will also cause flow of energy in the body.
Fourth is good diet. To balance Vata, it is necessary to include three juices in the diet, which include sour, sweet and salty. These three rasas help in balancing vata. Keep in mind that food should be eaten hot and all three juices should be present in the food.
The fifth is Veshtan i.e. tying a bandage. When Vata increases in the body, diseases related to bones trouble us. In such a situation, tie a hot bandage on the part where there is the most pain. This will provide relief from pain and also quench vata.
