New Delhi, April 16 (IANS). In today’s time, the problem of hair fall is increasing rapidly, and it is not limited to just age or season. Small reasons, like using wrong shampoo, changing products frequently or applying anything without understanding your hair type, can make hair weak.
Most people consider stress or diet to be the cause of hairfall, but according to scientists, scalp care and choosing the right shampoo is equally important. If the shampoo is not right, it can damage the hair roots and gradually the hair starts becoming thin and weak.
According to experts, shampoo also helps in maintaining the natural balance of the scalp. Our scalp produces natural oil ‘sebum’, which provides moisture and protection to the hair. When we use shampoos with too much chemical or repeatedly, this natural oil starts getting depleted. Due to this, the scalp becomes dry or excessive oil production starts, in both the cases the problem of hair fall can increase.
Scientific research shows that frequent shampoo changes affect the microbiome of the scalp. There are also good bacteria on the scalp, which keep it healthy. When we use a new shampoo every few days, this balance gets disturbed, which can lead to problems like itching, dandruff and hair fall. Therefore, choosing the same type of shampoo and using it regularly is considered safer.
If there is a lack of moisture in the hair, then choosing the right shampoo becomes even more important. Moisturizing shampoos contain ingredients that protect the top layer of the hair and prevent it from drying out. When hair remains moist, its roots remain strong and the chances of breakage are reduced. Therefore, one should choose such a shampoo, which along with nourishing the hair, keeps it soft and hydrated.
The problem of oily hair has also become quite common these days. In such a situation, people start washing their hair again and again, which further increases the problem. According to research, when we use shampoo frequently or with chemicals, the scalp starts producing more oil. Due to this, hair gets dirty quickly and also becomes weak. For such people, those shampoos should be used which gently remove excess oil from the scalp and maintain its balance.
Dry hair requires a different kind of care. If there is a lack of moisture in the scalp, the hair becomes dry and weak. In such a situation, shampoos containing sulphate can cause harm, because they clean too much and also remove essential oils. Scientists believe that for dry hair, such shampoos are better, which have mild and nourishing ingredients, which clean the hair without damaging it.
