Is it okay to eat fruits with food? Know what Ayurveda says

New Delhi, March 20 (IANS). Both food and fruits are essential for the body. In the changing lifestyle, serving fruits with food has become common at weddings, parties and hotels. Be it children or adults, many people eat fruits with food without thinking, whereas Ayurveda does not consider it right.

From wedding functions to hotels, fruits are served with food, and everyone from children to the elderly do not shy away from eating fruits with food, but is it right to eat both together? Fruits served in hotels or at any function are cold and many times they have been taken out of storage. Such fruits slow down the digestive fire, due to which food starts rotting in the stomach.

According to Ayurveda, cooked food like pulses, roti, rice etc. take relatively more time to digest, whereas on the contrary, fruits are soft and of different nature and fruits take less time to digest as compared to food. In such a situation, both the different types of food start rotting instead of being digested and the body does not get complete nutrition. This leads to gas, constipation, heaviness, acidity and excessive accumulation of toxins in the body and the body becomes prone to diseases.

Complete nutrition from both fruits and food is only available when both are eaten at different times. Fruits and food are pure food. In such a situation, it is better to eat both separately. Ayurveda considers food not just a matter of taste but a science where timing, quantity and combination have equal importance.

Morning and evening are very good times to eat fruits. If you want, you can also eat fruits on an empty stomach in the morning, but avoid eating sour fruits in the morning, because sour fruits can increase gas and burning sensation.

Fruits can be consumed even before sunset in the evening, but take special care not to eat fruits with milk or curd. Ayurveda considers it as a bad diet and one should not eat food for about 1 hour after eating the fruit. Food can be consumed after the fruits are digested.
