Jackfruit is an excellent source of fiber in summer, will give new strength to the heart.

New Delhi, March 20 (IANS). With the departure of winter and arrival of summer, the availability of jackfruit increases in the markets. Although, the methods of cooking it may differ in each region, but in terms of taste it has no match. Although cutting and preparing it may be a bit difficult, very few people know that jackfruit is actually a treasure trove of health.

Due to its abundance of nutrients, it can also be called ‘superfood of vegetables’. In particular, it is an excellent and natural source of fiber.

In Ayurveda, jackfruit is considered a heavy and greasy vegetable, which fulfills the nutritional needs of the body. If jackfruit is cooked properly, it also balances Vata in the body, but if the digestive fire is weak then consume it as little as the stomach has to work harder to digest it. Being heavy and greasy, it takes a long time to digest.

There are many benefits of consuming jackfruit, and this vegetable is a better option for diabetes patients. Its ‘glycemic index’ is low, which reduces the amount of sugar in the blood. It is also beneficial for the heart and is helpful in reducing cholesterol. It contains high amount of potassium, which reduces the risk of heart related diseases.

Jackfruit also contains high amount of fiber. If there is constipation or dirt remains accumulated in the intestines, then consumption of jackfruit is also helpful in cleaning the intestines. It works like a brush for the intestines, which removes the dirt from the body as quickly as possible. Along with the stomach, this vegetable is also beneficial in enhancing beauty.

Vitamin A and C present in it together work to improve skin and hair. Along with this, some people should be cautious in consuming jackfruit. People with gas or slow digestion should consume it less. If there is excess of Vata in the body, then prepare it with less spices and eat it in limited quantity only.
