New Delhi, October 26 (IANS). Lajwanti, also known as mimosa or lajjawati, is a plant that shrinks its leaves when touched. This plant looks very delicate and interesting, but tremendous medicinal properties are hidden inside it.
In Ayurveda, Lajwanti is considered very useful for balancing Kapha-Pitta, purifying the blood, reducing swelling and removing toxic elements from the body. It is also used in digestive system, skin, urinary problems, inflammation and mental health.
If we talk about its medicinal uses, then first of all it is considered very effective in piles. Consuming the powder of its leaves or roots mixed with milk or curd provides relief from swelling and pain and also stops bleeding. It is also very beneficial in fistula.
Another big benefit is in diarrhea or hematemesis. If someone is having diarrhea with blood, then giving Lajwanti root powder with curd provides immediate relief. Apart from this, drinking its decoction in the morning and evening strengthens the intestines and keeps the stomach clean.
Lajwanti is also used in both fever and diarrhea. When there is an upset stomach along with fever, then drinking it by making a decoction with herbs like Ashwagandha, Cinnamon and Kutaj gives relief to the body and also improves digestion.
This plant is also very beneficial for women. If someone feels looseness in the breasts, then make a paste by mixing Lajwanti root and Ashwagandha and massage gently. This strengthens the tissues and makes the breasts firm.
Even in case of wounds or injuries, this plant is no less than an antiseptic. Grinding its root and applying it on the wound stops bleeding, reduces swelling and heals the wound quickly. It shows effect even in old wounds.
Lajwanti is also very useful for sexual health. Consuming its seeds and sugar mixed with milk provides relief from weakness, premature ejaculation and stress.
Lajwanti has a cooling effect, so do not take it in excess quantity. Pregnant women and those with chronic diseases should not use it without doctor’s advice. If taken properly, Lajwanti can become a natural cure for many diseases.
