Patna, 20 December (IANS). RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav underwent cataract and retina surgery at a hospital in New Delhi on Saturday. According to family members and doctors the surgery has been successful.
His daughter Misa Bharti informed on social media that the surgery was completed without any problem. His condition is stable and he is recovering rapidly.
The surgery was performed under the supervision of Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev, renowned ophthalmologist and chairman and medical director of Center for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals.
According to hospital sources, this combined cataract and retina surgery was completed without any complications. During this period, internationally accepted medical rules and modern methods were followed.
Dr. Sachdev said that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s previously scheduled cataract and retina surgery has been completed successfully. He said that due to today’s modern technologies, such surgeries are safe, accurate and less painful. With proper care and regular checkups, they will recover quickly.
He also said that there has been a lot of progress in ophthalmology in the last few years. Now cataract and retina surgeries have become almost painless and blade-less. With the help of modern machines and techniques, the patient’s eyesight improves quickly and it has less impact on everyday life.
According to doctors, in most of the cases such surgery is done under day-care procedure, due to which the patient does not have to remain hospitalized for a long time and he can return home on the same day.
After surgery, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been discharged from the hospital and is now resting at home. Doctors have advised him for regular check-ups and follow-ups, so that the condition of the eyes can be monitored.
Thanking the medical team, Misa Bharti said that by the grace of God her father’s eye surgery was successful. He thanked the doctors and the entire hospital staff for their care and support and appealed to all well-wishers to pray for his speedy recovery.
