Srinagar, June 6 (IANS). PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti spoke to Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda over phone and requested to expedite the construction work of AIIMS Awantipora. He gave this information on Saturday.
Giving information about this conversation through a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Mehbooba Mufti wrote, “I spoke to Union Health Minister JP Nadda and requested him to expedite the ongoing work at AIIMS Awantipora, so that there is no further delay. He assured me that the work will be completed on time.”
Mehbooba said that the team deployed in Awantipora is working hard day and night, but in view of the poor condition of health services in Jammu and Kashmir, it is very important to start this institute as soon as possible. The health system is collapsing.
The former Chief Minister said that health facilities are continuously deteriorating throughout Jammu and Kashmir. In big hospitals, patients are facing a lot of problems due to shortage of beds, shortage of doctors and lack of proper equipment. In such a situation, the opening of a modern medical facility like AIIMS will prove to be a great relief for the people of the area.
The project of AIIMS Awantipora has been going on for many years. This is being considered an important step towards strengthening the health infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir. This institute will open new possibilities not only in high level treatment but also in the field of medical education and research.
Mehbooba Mufti further wrote in her post, “The team deployed here is working hard day and night, but considering the way health services are crumbling across Jammu and Kashmir, it is very important to start AIIMS Awantipora soon. This will provide much-needed relief and good medical services.”
