Memory will not be weak, just take care of some things

New Delhi, 17 September (IANS). September 21 is World Alzheimer’s Day, a disease that is associated with growing memory loss with increasing age. It is necessary to maintain memory over time, and all this is associated with brain health. If the health of the brain is right, then the body will also be healthy. Some research claims that if some exercises including diet, exercise and meditation are included in the daily routine, memory will not weaken.

A review of studies conducted in 2021 found that saturated fats and additional sugar rich diets can spoil the function of hippocampus. Hippocampus is the part of the brain which is associated with memory.

Another study conducted on adults between the ages of 50 to 64 years found that taking a diet rich in additional sugar for only 10 days has a negative effect on memory, so be good if the sugar intake is put on a brake.

Now it is a matter of fish oil, which contains abundant omega-3 fatty acids, ecosapentenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexanoic acid (DHA). These fat are important for overall health and can improve cognetary functions. Fish oil supplements are also helpful in reducing the condition of dementia in the elderly.

Both DHA and EPA are essential for brain and also help in reducing inflammation in the body, which is connected to coonate decline.

Along with eating, meditation and exercise is also necessary for brain. A study of 2021 has found that attention can increase gray matter in the brain, which is associated with memory. With aging, gray matter decreases, which negatively affect memory and ability to think.

According to the study ‘systematic analysis of relationships between obesity and memory los’ published in 2025, obesity reduces memory and its relationship is associated with rapid decline in memory. It was also found that the person struggling with obesity is more at risk of Alzheimer’s.

A 2019 research claimed that at least 7 hours of sleep is also very important for good memory. Research titled ‘Mechanisms of Systems Memory Consolidation Durning Sleep’ said that any adult should get at least 7 hours of sleep daily.
