Aizawl, 17 September (IANS). Taking an important step towards strengthening the health and empowerment of women in Mizoram, Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Wednesday launched the ‘Healthy Women, Strong Family Campaign’ and the 8th National Nutrition Month. This nationwide initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), which focuses on strengthening the health services of women, adolescents and children at the community level.

In the formal ceremony held at the Mizoram Assembly Annexe Conference Hall, the Governor said that only healthy mothers are strong foundations of families. He appealed to the village councils, local councils, NGOs, NGOs and Churches for cooperation to increase the reach and influence of the campaign, saying, “The welfare of the family starts with healthy mothers. We have to give priority to the health of women with collective efforts.”

Under the campaign, health camps and testing camps will be organized in hospitals, health and welfare centers and health sub-centers across the state. The beneficiaries will be enrolled in major schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and Nidhay Mitra. Also, Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID will also be released. This includes children’s vaccination, high blood pressure, diabetes, breast cancer, anemia and tuberculosis, apart from AYUSH, mouth health and blood donation camps. There will be a special focus on nutrition and health promotion in women and children under the National Nutrition Month.

After the formal program, the Governor visited the health camp in the assembly annexe. Under the campaign, more than 1 lakh health camps will be organized across the country, in which thousands of women will also be benefited in Mizoram. This initiative will be helpful in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘developed India 2047’, where health, nutrition and fitness have been given priority.

On the other hand, under the BJP’s service fortnight, the party’s Mizoram unit organized a blood donation camp at the State Conference Hall in Mipui Run, Upper Republic. A total of 35 units of blood were collected in this camp, run by the team of Civil Hospital Blood Bank, Aizol, which included 33 male and 2 female blood donors.
