'Music therapy' relieves stress and improves mood, music is no less than a boon for mental health.

New Delhi, March 7 (IANS). In today’s time, due to irregular routine and increasing work pressure, not only the body but also the mind easily becomes victim of many diseases. In such a situation, mental problems like stress, anxiety, irritability, sadness and nervousness become common. However, music therapy is effective in eliminating mental problems.

Music is a simple, free and extremely effective solution for mental health. After the hustle and bustle of the day, work stress or emotional turmoil, listening to your favorite light and calm music for some time in the evening gives deep relaxation to the mind and body. The National Health Mission (NHM) also advises to take some time out for yourself and relieve mental stress by listening to your favorite music.

According to NHM, listening or playing music reduces cortisol (stress hormone) levels, while increasing happiness hormones like dopamine and serotonin. This improves mood immediately and reduces anxiety and depression. It becomes an easy medium to express emotions, be it sadness or happiness, music helps to bring it out.

Music therapy provides mental peace, strengthens memory, improves sleep quality and increases happiness in life. Music therapy has many benefits, such as reducing mental stress and anxiety, improving mood and increasing positive thinking. The mind remains calm and negative thoughts are reduced. Sleep comes easily and deeply, as well as emotional balance and self-confidence increases.

According to experts, take out some time every day to listen to light music, like classical, instrumental, bhajan or songs of your choice. This is not a complicated therapy, just a habit that keeps the mind calm. If stress is high then also take help from a music therapy expert. However, listen to music at low volume instead of loud volume and avoid using headphones and earphones as much as possible.
