Nadi Shodhan Pranayama relieves mental problems by removing phlegm disorders.

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS). World Yoga Day (21st June) is just a few days away. Meanwhile, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has specially highlighted Nadi Shodhan Pranayam. This Pranayam is considered to be an easy and very effective method of peace of mind, concentration and physical balance.

According to the ministry, its regular practice not only relieves mental problems but also provides relief from cough related disorders. Nadi Shodhana Pranayam is also called Alternate Nasal Breathing Pranayam. This is one of the basic and safest procedures of yoga. In this, breath is taken from one nostril and exhaled from the other. Its technique is so simple that even beginners can do it easily.

This pranayama is being promoted under the ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’ resolution of the Ministry of AYUSH. In such a situation, yoga experts say that Nadi Shodhan proves to be very useful in removing the increasing stress, anxiety and mental instability in modern lifestyle. Its regular practice balances both parts of the brain, increasing deep concentration.

If we look at its main benefits, it makes the mind calm and stable and significantly reduces the level of stress and anxiety. Its practice increases concentration and memory power and also provides relief from cough disorders like cold, cough, phlegm related problems. It also improves the flow of internal energy.

According to experts, exercising for 10-15 minutes in the morning on an empty stomach is very beneficial. Gradually the time can be increased to 20-30 minutes. This pranayam is especially useful for those people who are busy in office work, studies or mentally stressful routine.

If practiced properly under the guidance of yoga gurus, better results are seen.
