New Delhi, October 25 (IANS). Nails are considered only a symbol of beauty, because they enhance the beauty of hands, but beautiful nails indicate not only beauty but also our health.

By looking at the nails it can be found out whether there is any problem in the body. Therefore, in Ayurveda, nails are also called the mirror of the body.

Nails are made up of keratin and cuticle, which helps form hair and skin tissue. This protein protects the upper part of the nail and helps in quick healing of the wound in case of injury. Along with this, the cuticle works to keep the nail attached to the skin and prevents bacteria and fungus from entering the skin. It is called the bodyguard of nails and skin.

Nails are very important for our body. It is because of nails that the upper surface of our fingers remains safe. It protects fingers from injury and infection. Apart from this, with the help of nails, the grip of the fingers becomes stronger, due to which they can lift the weight of hard and heavy things.

In such a situation, nail care is very important because they give us many types of signals. If the nails are yellow then it can be a sign of fungal infection or liver disease, and if they are white then it can indicate anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency and folic acid deficiency. Sudden formation of lines on the nails indicates thyroid. If such symptoms appear, a doctor should be contacted.

Taking care of nails is also very easy. Both nails and hands can be taken care of at home with some home remedies. Nails can be taken care of with lemon and olive oil. Mix olive oil in a little lemon and massage the nails and keep them soaked for some time, this removes yellowness. Apart from this, applying coconut or almond oil also strengthens the nails.

Nails can also be taken care of by making changes in diet. Nails have been seen attached to bones. It is believed in Ayurveda that when bones become weak, nails start breaking. In such a situation, take plenty of calcium and do not allow vitamin D deficiency in the body. Calcium is absorbed in the body only when Vitamin D is present in the right amount.
