New Delhi, June 25 (IANS). Jamun is as good in taste as it is considered beneficial for health. Most people throw away the seeds of blackberries after eating them, but very few people know that the seeds of blackberries also have many such properties which can benefit the body. Jamun seeds have been used in Ayurveda for years. Now many scientific researches have also revealed that blackberry seeds can help in many functions of the body.
According to experts, polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins and many types of antioxidants are found in jamun seeds. Antioxidants are elements that help in reducing harmful free radicals formed in the body. Free radicals damage cells and can increase the risk of premature aging, inflammation, and many diseases. When the body gets enough antioxidants, the cells are better protected and the body’s natural defense system remains strong.
Jamun seeds are helpful in controlling blood sugar. Many researches have found that jamun seeds contain elements which slow down the rate of increase of sugar in the body. When we eat food, the sugar present in it reaches the blood. Jamun seeds help slow this process down a bit. Due to this, the sugar level in the blood does not increase very rapidly. However, diabetic patients should consult doctors before consuming its powder.
Jamun seeds are also considered good for the stomach. They contain fiber, which helps in digesting food properly. Fiber also helps in cleaning the intestines and reduces the problem of constipation. Jamun and its seeds are beneficial for people who do not clean their stomach properly or have frequent digestion problems.
Jamun seeds also help in reducing inflammation in the body. Many times, slight swelling persists inside the body for a long time, due to which other health problems can gradually start. Some natural elements present in jamun seeds help in reducing this inflammation.
Jamun seeds also play an important role in keeping the heart healthy. The antioxidants present in them help in protecting the blood vessels from damage. At the same time, potassium found in blackberries helps in maintaining the balance of salt and water in the body. This keeps blood pressure under control, which also puts less pressure on the heart.
Jamun seeds are commonly used by drying and grinding them. Many people take its powder in the morning on an empty stomach or with lukewarm water. However, every person’s body is different, so it is important to first consult a doctor or health expert.
