Patna, 18 September (IANS). Health services have almost come to a standstill at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), the largest hospital in Bihar. Patients are facing a lot of problems due to junior doctors going on strike for various demands.
It is being told that patients in OPD have to return without getting treatment. Also, the problems of hospitalized patients have also increased. Except for emergency service, all work in OPD, ward and operation theater is closed.
The Junior Doctors Association (JDA) has clearly warned that all their services will be closed until all their demands are met. This movement focuses on recognizing the period of bond posting as Senior Residency, increment, merit low choice -based posting, inclusion of waiting periods in the bond period and already earned salary.
Junior doctor Prachi said that we have many demands. The most prominent of these is that the bond period of us should be reduced from three years to one year and the penalty to break the bond should be removed from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Junior Doctor Satyam told that we have five to six demands. The health department officials, superintendents, and principal have been talking to these demands for the last two years, but nothing has been received except assurance. This time too, two letters have been given regarding these demands, but so far no response has been given on them. After this, we have decided to go on strike.
He further said that we are being discriminated against. The duration of the bond should be one year in our main demands. As a senior resident, our service should be considered as a bond, so that doctors doing super specialty courses will get relief.
