Ajmer, February 28 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the national HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer from Ajmer, Rajasthan. On this occasion, 5 girls were vaccinated with Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 1.15 crore girls aged 14 years across all states and union territories every year. The vaccine will be given free of cost at designated government health centres.
After the launch of the nationwide campaign for HPV vaccination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Our government is committed to all-round development. In this context, with the launch of the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign from Ajmer, we have got the good fortune of inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of many projects and distribution of appointment letters to the youth.”
Addressing the program, Prime Minister Modi said that the HPV vaccination campaign has started from Ajmer. This campaign is an important step towards empowering the women power of the country.
He said, “We all know that when the mother in the family is ill, the house falls apart. If the mother is healthy, the family is able to face every crisis. In this spirit, the BJP government has launched many schemes to empower women.”
PM Modi said that we have seen that period before 2014, in which sisters and daughters had to face so much pain and humiliation due to lack of toilets. Girls used to leave school because there was no separate toilet facility there. Earlier, for those who were in power, these were small matters, so these problems were not even discussed. He said, “For us, this was a sensitive issue related to making our sisters and daughters sick and insulting them. That’s why we resolved it at the mission point.”
He said, “Malnutrition during pregnancy was a big threat to the life of mothers. We started a scheme for safe motherhood. We started a scheme to deposit Rs 5,000 in the sisters’ accounts so that the mother gets nutritious food. The mother kept coughing in the smoke, but did not even make a ‘uff’. We said that this will not work and hence the Ujjwala Gas Scheme was created. All this became possible because the BJP government works with sensitivity, not power.”
