New Delhi, December 20 (IANS). Nowadays, there are many beliefs regarding kajal that applying kajal is harmful for the eyes.
Whereas in Ayurveda, Kajal is not only considered a make-up item but also a formula for eye care. However, it depends on the way the kajal is made, like the kajal available in the markets contains high amount of lead, which is harmful for the eyes, whereas in Ayurveda, on the contrary, kajal is considered a means of eye protection.
In Ayurveda, Kajal is called Anjana, which is associated with eye rituals. Ajna is helpful in protecting, purifying the eyes, reducing fatigue, removing contaminated phlegm and expelling dirt. In Ayurveda, it is advised to make pure Anjan, which is prepared with the help of cotton wick, almond powder, pure ghee, earthen lamp and copper vessel.
Anjan prepared through Ayurvedic methods reduces eye swelling and fatigue caused by looking at the screen. In today’s time, all the work is done with the help of phone or computer. Ghee and almonds present in Anjan provide moisture and coolness to the eyes and reduce eye irritation and fatigue.
Due to the almonds and desi ghee present in Anjan, the eye cells also get better nutrition, which also helps in increasing their vision.
One should also know the use of pure Anjan. Use it in limited quantities and apply it to the eyes with caution and discretion. Ayurveda teaches us that what does not prick the eyes is real beauty. Keep in mind that if there is any kind of disease or infection in the eyes then avoid applying pure Anjan. In case of cataract or infection, use as per doctor’s advice.
It is also important to identify pure Anjan. There is no smell of any kind in pure Anjan, there is no chemical mixed in it. If Anjan is stinging when applied in the eyes, then understand that it has not been made with purity, but harmful chemicals have been used.
