Rajasthan: 7 medicines failed in test, sale and use immediately banned

Based on these findings, the Drug Controller has directed all Drug Control Officers of Rajasthan to immediately withdraw the identified batches from the market and take strict action under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.

Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangal said that the department regularly conducts inspection, sampling and quality monitoring so that only safe, effective and standard medicines reach the people and health institutions.

He said that in the latest tests, many medicines did not meet the prescribed quality standards, raising serious questions on their effectiveness, safety and clinical reliability.

The sub-standard medicines list includes Cefixime Oral Suspension IP, Albendazole Tablets IP, Methylprednisolone Tablets IP 4 mg, Dextromethorphan HBr + Chlorpheniramine Maleate Syrup, Cefuroxime Xetil Tablets IP, Ciprofloxacin Tablets IP 500 mg.

The Drug Controller has directed all government and private hospitals, medical colleges, pharmacies and distributors to immediately stop the sale, distribution and use of these medicines.

The department reiterated that strict legal action will be taken under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 in case of violation of these instructions. Along with this, he has asked all the officials to be strict, investigate and follow the order to stop the sale, distribution and use of medicines immediately.
