New Delhi, February 11 (IANS). In Unani principles, ‘Harkat-o-Sukoon Nafsani’ i.e. mental activity and mental relaxation has been considered the important basis of a healthy life. Just as our body keeps working continuously and does not get rest, it gets tired and falls sick, in the same way, if our mind is continuously entangled in stress, worry, fear or anger, then its balance gets disturbed.
According to Unani medical principles, there is a life force within us called soul. This soul plays an important role in maintaining our mental and physical balance. When our emotions remain balanced, thinking is positive and we take mental rest as per need, then the soul also remains in balance and health remains better.
In today’s busy life, we often understand the fatigue of the body, but ignore the fatigue of the mind. Working till late night, spending continuous time on mobile and screen, being immersed in some worry all the time or being worried about the future, all these increase the mental burden.
Unani medicine says that mental activity is important because thinking, learning and working are all part of life. But like everything there must be a balance. If there is more activity and less rest, then problems like restlessness, irritability, insomnia and mental fatigue may start. At the same time, if the person becomes completely inactive and does not do any mental activity, then sadness and lethargy can also increase. So balance is the real key.
There is no need for big changes to achieve mental peace. Taking some time out of the day for yourself, taking deep breaths, spending a few moments in nature, doing namaz, meditation or prayer and spending time with positive people, these small steps give relief to the mind. Also, it is important to understand your limitations. Taking on every task and trying to be perfect all the time also increases mental pressure.
Unani theory teaches us to practice restraint, think positively and give rest to the mind when needed. When the mind remains calm and balanced, its effect is visible on the entire body.
