Rising triglyceride levels are an alarm, know what are the necessary steps to avoid this.

New Delhi, February 13 (IANS). Fat is very important to provide energy to the body. Fat increases the body’s ability to work by converting it into energy, but do you know that when this fat increases in the blood, the triglyceride level increases and this is an alarm bell for the entire body.

Increased triglyceride levels are the beginning of diabetes, obesity, joint pain and heart diseases.

Generally people consider triglyceride and cholesterol to be the same, but these two are two different fats found in the blood. Triglyceride accumulates in the cells of the body and works to provide energy to the body. The right level of triglycerides in the blood keeps good cholesterol balanced, balances insulin resistance in the body, reduces inflammation inside the body, and helps strengthen metabolism, while cholesterol helps in building cells, making hormones and vitamins.

Now let us know why triglyceride increases in the body. There are many reasons behind the increase in triglyceride. Normally the level of triglyceride in the body should be 150 mg/dl. If the level is high then caution is necessary. This is mainly caused by eating excessive carbohydrates, obesity, consumption of junk food and processed food, lack of physical activity and consumption of alcohol and tobacco. All these reasons help in increasing the triglyceride levels.

On triglycerides, doctors work to bring down the level with medicine, but triglycerides can be controlled by some methods present in Ayurveda. For this, first of all reduce carbohydrates in the diet. If you do less physical exertion, eat less carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are also found in wheat, rice, jowar, bajra, ragi and millet.

Second, include healthy fats in the diet. Like desi ghee, butter, mustard oil, and extra virgin olive oil can be included in the diet. Along with this, at least 1 hour of physical exercise is also necessary. Do walk and exercise daily.

The habit of eating frequently also helps in increasing the triglyceride levels. Therefore do intermittent fasting. Starve yourself for 14-16 hours every day.
