New Delhi, June 14 (IANS). Nowadays, scorching heat and harsh sunlight have become a big problem for people. The sun’s rays are so strong during the afternoon that the skin starts burning even after staying outside for a while. Many people’s skin turns red and starts burning. This is called sunburn. This problem occurs when the ultraviolet rays of the sun damage the upper layer of our skin. At this time, dust and pollution also weaken the skin further, due to which its effect on the body becomes visible quickly. In such a situation, home remedies that cool the body and soothe the skin can prove to be very helpful.
Aloe vera is considered to be the easiest and effective remedy for sunburn. Aloe vera is a plant in which antioxidant elements like polysaccharides, vitamins A, C and E are found. A cold and sticky gel is found inside it, which gives instant coolness to the skin. When it is applied on the burning area, it gradually reduces the heat of that hot area. The natural elements present in it help in reducing skin inflammation.
At the same time, cucumber is also very useful in sunburn because it contains about 95 percent water. It works to hydrate the skin. When the skin gets burnt by the sun, it lacks moisture, which causes a feeling of burning and stretching. If cucumber juice is applied, it helps in bringing back moisture to the skin. This gives relief to the skin and gradually the redness also starts reducing.
On the other hand, rose water is also a very old and easy remedy. Rose water is made from rose flowers and its extract has anti-inflammatory properties. Moreover, the pH level of rose water is very close to the natural pH of the skin thus it helps in keeping the skin balanced. When applied to the skin, it provides instant cooling effect and also reduces irritation. It calms the nerve endings of the skin, which also reduces the feeling of pain.
