New Delhi, March 26 (IANS). In the scorching heat, many local drinks are popular to provide coolness and energy to the body, but one of the most beneficial and nutritious drinks is Sattu sherbet. Sattu is considered a boon in summer, because it not only keeps the body hydrated but is also full of nutrition.

Sattu is a traditional Indian food that proves to be a treasure of freshness and health during the summer season. Apart from being delicious, it is also very beneficial for health. Sattu provides coolness, energy and essential nutrients to the body, which is suitable for people of all ages and classes.

According to Ayurveda, daily consumption of Sattu strengthens the body from inside and keeps away fatigue caused by heat.

According to a report published in the National Library of Medicine, Sattu has cooling properties. It has high fiber content and low glycemic index, which improves digestion. Fiber keeps bowel movements regular, helps reduce cholesterol and keeps the digestive system healthy.

Sattu is also rich in protein, calcium, magnesium, iron and other important minerals. It is very popular in many states of India. Sattu is consumed daily in Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand. It is mainly prepared by roasting and grinding grains like gram, wheat, barley.

Rich amounts of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals are found in Sattu. The biggest benefit of Sattu is that it keeps the body cool. Due to sweating in summer, there is deficiency of water and electrolytes in the body, in such a situation, Sattu sherbet quenches thirst as well as gives energy. Besides, it strengthens digestion and also proves helpful in weight control.

Sattu can be eaten and drunk in many forms. Its cold sherbet is most liked in summer. The sherbet made by adding salt, lemon, cumin powder or jaggery to it is not only tasty but also protects from heat. Apart from this, laddu, paratha and chapati can also be made from Sattu or its batter is also liked a lot.

Sattu is rich in fiber, which keeps the intestines healthy and provides relief from problems like constipation and acidity. It controls blood sugar and also helps in balancing blood pressure. Sattu also proves beneficial for people suffering from cholesterol problems.
