New Delhi, May 6 (IANS). Pregnancy is a very special and beautiful time in every woman’s life, but during this time many changes take place in both body and mind. Sometimes mood swings occur due to hormonal changes, and sometimes fatigue and heaviness is felt in the body. In such a situation, it is common to feel some stress. During this period, doing pranayam daily can be beneficial.
Pranayam means controlling the breath properly. As simple as it sounds, its impact is deeper. When you breathe slowly and deeply, the mind becomes calm, the body gets enough oxygen and a different peace is felt from inside.
The Ministry of AYUSH posted on its official social media account that Pranayam becomes even more beneficial during pregnancy, as it benefits both the mother and the child. In this, Nadi Shodhana Pranayam is considered the best. In this, breath is taken through one nose and exhaled through the other nose. Doing this calms the mind and reduces stress. You can feel the difference just by practicing for a few minutes every day.
Apart from this, Sheetali Pranayam is also very useful. In this, breath is taken in by bending the tongue like a tube and exhaled through the nose, which reduces the body temperature. It gives a lot of relief especially during times of heat and restlessness. It is considered quite comfortable for pregnant women.
Bhramari Pranayam is also very effective. In this, a humming sound like that of a bee is made while exhaling. It calms the mind, reduces anxiety and also helps improve sleep. Many times when the mind is very restless, this pranayama gives instant relief.
The best thing is that doing all these pranayams does not require much time or any heavy preparation. If you wake up in the morning or take out some time in the evening and practice for just 10-15 minutes, you can get a lot of benefit.
The most important thing during pregnancy is mental peace, because the mother’s stress can also affect the child. Therefore, it is important that a woman tries to keep herself happy and relaxed. Pranayama can become a great help in this. Along with this, light walks, nutritious food and adequate rest are also very important.
However, before starting any type of yoga or pranayam during pregnancy, advice from a doctor or specialist must be taken.
