Ranchi: A big revelation has been made regarding the security arrangements in RIMS, the largest government hospital of the state. In the name of security of the hospital premises, the government spent Rs 3.5 crore like water, but the reality is that out of 1417 CCTV cameras installed in the hospital, about 1318 cameras are completely stalled and only 100 cameras are working. The claims of RIMS management were exposed when it was investigated. Tall claims have been made about security including barbed wire on the RIMS campus, OPD, ward, emergency and boundary wall, but the monitoring system at the ground level has completely broken down.
To monitor security, a large control room equipped with state-of-the-art resources has been built, which has 16 large LED screens. According to the rules, four operators should be deployed here to keep a round-the-clock vigil, but during the investigation no operator was found present there. Only one security guard was found deployed in the control room.
On July 13 (12:36 pm), footage from only 92 cameras was visible live on 16 big screens. There was no improvement in the situation on July 18 (5:00 pm), only 107 cameras were being displayed on the screen. This means that on an average only 100 cameras were found in working condition.
On this matter, RIMS Public Relations Officer Dr. Shishir Kumar said that 1417 CCTV cameras have been installed in the hospital. Due to the recent thundering, there was some technical fault in the system, which efforts are being made to resolve. He said that one day when he himself went on a surprise inspection with the director, an operator was present in the control room.
Security in RIMS depends on God, 1317 CCTV cameras switched off, security failed even after spending crores
