State level program on World AIDS Day in Ranchi, appeal to youth to increase awareness...

AIDS day Awareness Program: A state level program was organized in the auditorium of Sadar Hospital on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2025 on 1 December in Ranchi. Shashi Prakash Jha, IAS, Campaign Director of National Health Mission was present as the chief guest in this program. He appealed to the youth to spread maximum awareness in the society regarding HIV and AIDS.

Emphasis on spreading awareness

He said that Jharkhand State AIDS Control Committee is continuously running various programs for HIV prevention and testing. He believes that by involving more people in these campaigns and getting them tested for HIV, it can be of great help in preventing the infection.

The chief guest also made special mention of the blood donation campaign. He appealed to the youth to come forward and donate blood, so that blood shortage in the state can be overcome and needy patients can get blood on time.

Additional Project Director Dr. S. S. Paswan informed that at present the facility of testing and counseling is available through 65 ICTC centers in Jharkhand. Along with this, 13 ART centers are also being run across the state, where HIV infected people get free treatment and medicines. He said that the government is running many schemes to connect people affected by HIV with the mainstream of society.

In the program, Civil Surgeon Ranchi Dr. Prabhat Kumar praised various cultural and awareness programs conducted by the students of nursing colleges and other institutions. He said that the increasing awareness about AIDS among the youth shows that with continuous efforts this disease can be eradicated from its roots.

During the program, Sadar Hospital Ranchi and MGM Medical College and Hospital Jamshedpur were honored for organizing successful blood donation camps. Apart from this, ICTC centers of RIMS Ranchi and MGM Jamshedpur got the honor for providing better testing facilities. Both the institutions were also honored for their excellent services as ART centres.

On the eve of World AIDS Day, a candle march was taken out from Sadar Hospital to Mission Chowk on 30 November. Many students took part in this march and made people aware about the dangers of HIV and AIDS.

Director General Health Services Dr. Siddharth Sanyal, DS Sadar Hospital Dr. Vimlesh Kumar, Joint Director CST Dr. Badal Chandra Bhakat, Joint Director IEC Ravi Prakash Singh and many other officers were present in this state level program.
