New Delhi, July 22 (IANS). RML Hospital informed on Wednesday that a 21-year-old woman, who was seriously injured in an incident related to protests in the capital Delhi, was undergoing treatment at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. After his condition improved significantly, he was removed from ventilator support.
The hospital said in a statement that the patient has been successfully removed from the ventilator.
“She has been successfully removed from the ventilator and is now breathing on her own. She is conscious and responding well to instructions. MRIs of her brain and spinal cord are normal,” the statement said.
According to the hospital, after encouraging improvement in his condition, the decision to remove ventilator support was taken.
The statement said his clinical condition has been steadily improving since the start of treatment and he is receiving complete medical care under the close supervision of the treating team.
The hospital said that the woman is being given necessary treatment and constant monitoring.
The woman was injured during the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday. According to reports, he suffered injuries when he collided with the barricade during the police action on the protesters.
There was chaos during CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament.
The protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the examinations, including the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
Delhi Police said that more than 118 policemen and about 60 protesters were injured during the clash. Police also said that more than 20 police vehicles were damaged.
